Dr. Hafsa Nawaz
Dr. Nawaz is here to make the difference as your primary care doctor while beating the odds of healthcare. Where other physicians are forming larger groups, she instead has started working as a solo practitioner. Dr. Nawaz believes patient care should be individualized, prioritized, and humanized, rather than computerized.
She graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan in 1998 and has been in practice for 17 years. She completed a residency at Griffin Hospital, Derby CT. She has worked and is currently affiliated with Yale New Haven and Hospital of Saint Raphael. Dr. Nawaz accepts multiple insurance plans including Aetna, Medicare, Anthem, Medicaid Husky.
Throughout her career, along with her regular practice as a primary care doctor, she has worked with underprivileged and underserved communities. Dr. Nawaz currently works with AmeriCares Clinic in Bridgeport, providing free preventive and acute care to uninsured patients and prospective medical students.
She has always had a special interest in women's and elderly patient care. Dr. Nawaz is a Certified Medical Director (CMD) and serves as Medical Director in many facilities around New Haven County.
Dr. Nawaz has many interests including long distance running (including the Hartford Marathon in 2010, New Jersey half marathon in 2011, and multiple other races), healthy cooking, and hiking (she has hiked Mount Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu, and Patagonia).
Dr. Nawaz is also fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and some Arabic.

Kathrine Walker, APRN, FNP, MSN
Kathrine or Katy as she likes to be referred to, started her career in the medical field as a home health aid and found her passion for patient care. Working within the medical field for the last 17 years, Katy has advanced her education and experience from a home health aid in 2002 to a Registered Nurse in 2005 and in 2018 graduating with honors from Chamberlain School of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. One of the proudest moments in her medical career was receiving The Daisy Award, which she was nominated for by a patient's family member.
As a Family Practitioner, Katy enjoys working with patients throughout all the stages of life.
"I want to be there for my patients when they need me most, that is what I love about my job... I have the privilege of people allowing me to care for them or their loved ones".
As an APRN, Katy has the ability to recommend and prescribe medical marijuana to her patients for conditions such as Parkinson's Disease, HIV/AIDS, Glaucoma, Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer, and more.
Katy has proudly worked with Star Medical Care since January 2019.

Our Primary Care Doctor offers Geriatric Care & Preventive Medicine
In addition to internal medicine and primary care, Dr. Nawaz practices geriatric care and preventive medicine. Senior citizens need to take particular care of their health, and Dr. Nawaz is here to help them every step of the way. She also very much believes in preventive medicine and, as your primary care doctor, she will do everything she can to detect potential health problems before they turn into major issues. She welcomes entire families into her practice and is happy to work with children.
